We are very excited to share with you the work of another of our Exhibitors who will be at the Chamberí Christmas edition on December 22nd at Calle Juan de Austria, 30
Speak in Plants is a personal project by Ana Maia, which she started a year and a half after arriving in Spain as a way of professional reinvention.
“I consider myself lucky, what started out as a therapeutic hobby is now my main daily activity.”
The work includes interventions of all kinds in various types of indoor and tropical plants. It is a way to develop my most creative side, to learn new techniques and to achieve unique results.

She uses all kinds of materials, many of them recycled. Where many people would see trash, Ana sees endless possibilities for her plants and her creations.

Of the series on which she has worked the most so far, she highlights some aspects such as the use of the Japanese kokedama technique, the creation of pieces made in macramé (among others) in an artisanal way, the design of living terrariums, or the introduction of found objects, some of them with a lot of history, such as the soldier's cups found on the Teruel front and dating from the Spanish Civil War.
Another interesting aspect of this work is the collaborative networks that can be created from such initiatives. “Starting with the moment when your neighbour knocks on your door to offer you the soil she has left over from her installation. Continuing with the people you meet who altruistically pass on some of their knowledge to you. And ending (if it ends) with everything that I am sure I will have the opportunity to share having chosen this professional field.”
