Joan Estrader, winner of the Visionado IV International Festival of Spanish and Ibero-American Photography 2021 Ojos Rojos, has created and produced more than twenty absurd theatre and humour shows that have taken him on stages around the world.
He participates with his Video Poems pieces in different Festivals such as Vociferio Poetry Festival of Valencia, Maldito Video Poetry Festival of Albacete, Nudo Festival of Unleashed Poetry of Barcelona, POEX 22 Gijón, Electronic Oral Poetry Exhibition of Arequipa - PERU, International Exhibition of Postal Art "In Memoriam Antonio Cares" Santiago de Chile.
He has published two books of absurd photography, Juancallate and Un cuadro lleno de nada, where the images create hilarious wordplays.
Joan Estrader plays with the visual and the word, with the everyday and the absurd. It invites us to reflect on the fact that everything
we see is something else. Photography is not flat, it is dynamic, it always has a second or third reading. It is a
discovery, where surprise occurs.
A work where the game consists of mixing the semiotic with the objectual, and making it dizzy. The conventional is
unites the imaginary and in the end poetic metaphors emerge. A series of simple elements: can, garlic, pear... that
placed in different ways or associated with other elements, they change the semantic boundaries, giving
I move on to a new composition. A loaf of bread becomes a pair of trousers, or a polo shirt becomes Marco Polo.
In the photographs there is a recipe for delirium, wordplay, plastic composition and humor. A proposal
different and original, a work where there is a disarray between the signifier and the meaning of the
words.
Joan Estrader bases his work on two fundamental axes: imagination and the stimulation of the springs of the
brain, to produce endorphins, capable of generating an explosion of pleasure in the viewer.
The author, through games and riddles, allows you to jump for joy when you hit the target in the middle of
its chaos. Or to surprise you with its capacity to amaze.
The author's motivation is to generate a creative journey from a contemporary, absurd and surrealist vision,
where creativity prevails when it comes to observing what surrounds us.
We propose a visual game, some hieroglyphics and riddles in which you will have to use all your ingenuity to solve them. Next to each photograph you have the clue to decipher the hieroglyph. Use all your imagination!
