BEGRANEL is an online store selling zero waste cleaning and hygiene products based at Avenida Filipinas 4, which also has the first two bulk vending machines in Spain.
Behind BEGRANEL, There are two friends and business partners, Tita and Joanna. One summer afternoon they were talking about the abundant consumption of plastic waste that is generated in Madrid every day. As regular customers of bulk stores for years, they realized that there was not a wide range of products in the field of cleaning products, detergents and personal hygiene. The offer is minimal, and most of the stores that offer bulk cleaning products buy them in 25-liter containers. So even though the customer buys them in bulk, the stores are consuming single-use plastics.
This is where the idea of creating a vending point like the one for drinks or food that operates 24 hours a day, accessible 7 days a week, where you can refill your own container with one of the available products, arose. This way, the consumption of single-use containers would be avoided and it would help generate a smaller amount of waste.
They began to investigate the subject and found that this system was being implemented in different countries around the world such as the USA and Mexico, and with very active collaboration from the Public Administrations. And they asked themselves: Could we implement this system in Madrid? That's where we live. So after a lot of work, nights of little sleep, and many dreams ahead, here they are doing their bit to take care of our planet.
BEGRANEL It is characterized by the selection of biodegradable cleaning and personal hygiene products in bulk, chosen to adapt to your needs in a sustainable way and, best of all, without harming the planet. All available to you in vending machines or online home delivery.
The aim is to implement machines that dispense cleaning and hygiene products in bulk, with the option of bringing your own container and refilling only the amount you need. These machines would be located in existing businesses that sell in bulk, where you could find a greater variety of products at your disposal, such as in the Filipinas, 4 store in Madrid.
The company also has an online sales service where containers can be used back and forth, just as the milkman did in the old days. The customer receives his refilled containers and we collect the previously used containers to be washed and refilled. All with the aim of consequently reducing the level of waste.
They also have a wide selection of organic, vegan and plastic-free solid cosmetic products. These include: artisan soaps, solid shampoos, cream and solid conditioners, facial serums, solid and cream deodorants, oils, etc.
At the same time, they promote their products in gyms, restaurants, hotels, cafes… all those establishments that use cleaning products in their daily activities and that want to identify themselves with responsible consumption by using biodegradable products and reducing plastic consumption. The formula is the same as in online sales, BEGRANEL provides the first container, collects it, washes it, refills it and delivers it to the customer. They offer a distinctive eco-conscious and sustainable establishment, so that their customers are aware of their practices in favor of our planet.
On social media and in the media, they promote the reduction of single-use plastics and the importance of participating in the conservation and improvement of our planet.
